Hushwall

Draft — pending legal review

This is a plain-language first draft. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel and is not the final, binding agreement. It is shared for transparency about how Hushwall is intended to work.

Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

1. Accepting these terms

By installing or using the Hushwall app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Hushwall requires no account — installing it is how you accept.

2. What Hushwall is

Hushwall is a mobile app that helps you understand and save mobile data, blocks trackers on-device, surfaces USSD shortcuts for buying data and managing your line, and provides offline, end-to-end encrypted chat with nearby devices. Most of its features run entirely on your phone.

3. Off-Play distribution

Hushwall is distributed outside the Google Play Store — by sideloading the APK from our site or via F-Droid. Always verify the published signing fingerprint before installing. Only install builds you have verified; we are not responsible for modified or third-party redistributions of the app.

4. Pricing and network information is indicative

Data bundle prices, volumes, USSD codes and vendor information shown in the app are provided for convenience and may be out of date or vary by region, network and promotion. They are not offers and are not guaranteed. Always confirm current pricing and codes with your mobile network or the relevant vendor before transacting. Hushwall does not sell airtime or data and is not a party to any purchase you make.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Hushwall lawfully and not to use the chat or any other feature to harass, defraud, distribute illegal content, or infringe others’ rights. You are responsible for the content you send and the people you connect with. Because chat is peer-to-peer and we do not see your messages, we cannot moderate them.

6. Chat — peer-to-peer and unverified peers

Nearby chat is end-to-end encrypted and routed directly between devices; Hushwall never relays or stores your messages. Importantly, nearby peers are not yet identity-verified — until in-app verification ships, you should confirm a contact’s identity through a channel you trust before sharing anything sensitive. You use peer-to-peer chat at your own discretion.

7. Privacy

Your use of Hushwall is also governed by our Privacy Policy. In short: processing happens on your device, we collect no personally identifiable information, and analytics is opt-in and anonymous.

8. The app is provided “as is”

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hushwall is provided without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that data savings, blocking, USSD shortcuts or offline chat will work in every situation, on every device or network. Mobile features depend on your device, carrier and signal conditions.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hushwall and its makers are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses arising from charges by your network, inaccurate third-party pricing or USSD information, or your interactions with other users. This section will be finalised with counsel.

10. Open-core licensing

Hushwall is open-core. The open-source components are governed by their respective licenses as published in the project repository. These terms cover your use of the distributed app itself.

11. Changes & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with an updated date, and continued use means you accept them. Questions can be directed to the Hushwall team via the contact channel published with the release.
